Delighted to let you all have a list of the authors supporting IBW who are on Twitter – thanks to them all!

You will be very well aware of the fantastic Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops, a Sunday Times bestseller, and the cause of several laughing-out-loud moments in bookshops across the land…  in fact, if ever a book were made for IBW, then this could well be it…

So, we are delighted to let you know that Jen Campbell, author of the book (and poet) is available for IBW bookshop events, from 4th to 7th July.  Jen can come along to do a signing, meet reading groups, promote her book – she is charming and very keen to get involved in IBW.  Email Jen directly if you would like her to visit your shop jenvcampbell@gmail.com

In addition, the publisher of the book, Constable & Robinson, is offering IBW booksellers extra discount - for more information email meryl.halls@booksellers.org.uk

And, inspired by the success of the book, we are going to run an IBW Overheard in A Bookshop competition – we would love to hear from you with comments, questions and weirdnesses that you overhear (or have said to you!) in the course of a day in the shop.  Between now and the end of IBW (7th July), please send in your overheard (or direct!) comments from customers to meryl.halls@booksellers.org.uk and/or jenvcampbell@gmail.com

We’re hopeful of getting a great range of comments in from you all, and who knows, maybe we might even create our own book!

Here is our campaign poster for this year.

In addition to this poster, bookshops will receive

  • BellyBands for IBW Collectibles
  • Empty Belly Posters for Events
  • Bookmarks – 2 designs
  • National Reading Group Empty Belly Posters
  • Cut-out logos

As well as a wealth of stuff to download and print off yourself.  The POS should be with booksellers by the end of May, courtesy of Gardners Books – to them MANY THANKS!  More details shortly!

Contact meryl.halls@booksellers.org.uk or sharon.benton@booksellers.org.uk for more information.
